David Lewin
Dr. David Lewin heads BRG’s Human Capital practice and is the Neil H. Jacoby professor of management, human resources, and organizational behavior at the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
He has provided consulting advice and expert testimony in numerous labor, employment, and human capital matters involving executive compensation, employee compensation, non-poaching and non-compete agreements, organizational governance, independent contractor versus employee status, wrongful termination and constructive discharge, wages and hours, collective bargaining, performance management, and age, gender, race, disability, and religious discrimination. In these areas, Dr. Lewin has often designed and analyzed data obtained from survey questionnaires, interview protocols, and observational studies. He has rendered expert testimony in federal, state, and local courts, US Tax Court, arbitration hearings, and administrative law hearings.
Dr. Lewin has consulted widely on human resource management issues and practices with companies in the US and abroad. He frequently advises company boards of directors and their compensation committees on executive and employee compensation matters, including in the context of restructuring and retention programs. He served for eight years on the board of directors of K-Swiss and on the board’s Compensation and Stock Options committee and Governance committee. He served for fourteen years on the board of directors of the National Academy of Human Resources.
Dr. Lewin is the author of twenty-five books and more than one hundred scholarly and professional journal articles. Before joining BRG and UCLA, he served as professor, director of the PhD Program, director of the Human Resources Research Center, and director of the Senior Executive Program at the Columbia University Business School. Dr. Lewin is also a cofounder and continuing faculty member of the Columbia Business School/New York City Police Department Police Management Institute.
