Urmi Mukherjea

Urmi Mukherjea is a Managing Director at Berkeley Research Group.

She holds a Ph.D. in Economics with a focus on Empirical Industrial Organization. Dr. Mukherjea is an economist with more than 19 years of experience in litigation support and research engagements for law firms, corporations, financial institutions, and government agencies. She has advised clients and applied rigorous economic analysis to a wide range of securities, tax, valuation, and damages matters. Her fields of expertise include finance, valuation, and transfer pricing. She also has significant experience with applied microeconomics, surveys, and econometric analysis.

Dr. Mukherjea has addressed a broad range of issues in finance, including transfer pricing, economic damages, market efficiency, event studies, insider trading, mergers and acquisitions, valuation of publicly traded and privately held securities and intangible assets. Dr. Mukherjea has also assisted counsel in locating industry and technical experts and assisting such experts in preparing expert reports for litigation. She has deep experience with matters related to pharmaceutical pricing, technology platforms and software development.

Dr. Mukherjea has prepared documentation studies for transfer pricing and also helped draft expert reports for transfer pricing disputes on behalf of taxpayers. Dr. Mukherjea has prepared economic analysis of market efficiency and helped draft expert testimony, directly assisting counsel in several securities class certification matters including for a large public government sponsored entity, and for a large pharmaceutical firm. In the recent past, Dr. Mukherjea has also led a project team locating and supporting an industry expert who prepared an expert report regarding biotech firms’ access to capital markets for a securities class action matter. She has supported analysis and report writing for other industry and technology experts, such as those related to software development and pharmaceuticals for securities class actions and other complex litigation.
