Simon Schropp
With two decades of experience, Dr. Simon Schropp delivers tailor-made and evidence-based solutions to clients confronted with issues relating to international economic policy, international trade and investment disputes, regulatory frameworks, and antitrust and competition matters.
Dr. Simon Schropp provides to-the-point analysis and advice that enables clients to advance their interests in negotiations or litigation, optimally implement strategic business decisions, or share policy initiatives. He has extensive experience across a range of policy and legal regimes and jurisdictions, as well as business sectors, including agricultural commodities, raw materials, civil aviation, fast-moving consumer goods, and e-commerce. He has also testified before regulators and participated in litigation before the World Trade Organization, international arbitration tribunals, and domestic fora.
Before joining BRG, Dr. Schropp served as chief economist at a global law firm for more than a decade. He played an integral role in numerous case teams, leading economic and quantitative aspects of litigation and advisory work. He also established an in-house economic analysis unit and directed the work of a team of economists and econometricians.
Dr. Schropp is able to grasp clients’ economic and legal problems, translate them into actionable economic analysis, design bespoke solutions, and recast findings in a manner that has currency with nonspecialist audiences including judges, regulators, and C-suite executives.
Dr. Schropp also serves as an adjunct professor at The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, where he teaches international economics and trade policy. His academic work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals including The Economic Journal, Economics Letters, Review of International Economics, World Trade Review, and The World Economy.
