Roger Kaiser, MD
Roger Kaiser, Jr., M.D., has an extensive clinical, medical educational, executive management, and consulting background spanning over thirty years serving integrated healthcare systems, academic medical centers, public, not-for-profit, and for-profit organizations.
Dr. Kaiser brings a unique skill set in the areas of executive leadership, operational turnaround and implementation management, communications, quality and performance improvement, strategic positioning, physician collaboration/integration, and fiscal management to advise clients on complex operational and financial challenges.
Before joining BRG, Dr. Kaiser was a director at a global consulting firm, where he participated in a number of engagements in interim executive management and consulting roles, including providing engagement leadership in which significant performance improvements were realized.
Examples include serving as chief executive officer of Sumner Regional Health Systems (Gallatin, Tennessee), where he led a $20-million year-over-year operational turnaround, restructuring, and transaction; and as a member of the interim executive management team that led Passaic Beth Israel Hospital (Passaic, New Jersey) through a restructuring and subsequent sale. Dr. Kaiser also served in various consulting roles for hospitals, health systems, and academic medical centers, providing expertise in performance improvement, clinical redesign and integration, regulatory readiness, and value-based accountable care adaption.
Prior to consulting, Dr. Kaiser served as chief executive officer and chief medical officer of a public healthcare system in the Northeast, where he led the organization through a conversion to a public benefit corporation.
A board-certified anesthesiologist and intensivist, Dr. Kaiser served on the faculty of the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, where he held the academic rank of associate professor and published extensively. Dr. Kaiser also served in the United States military as a flight surgeon in the Air National Guard, achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was the chief of aviation medicine for the 107th Fighter-Interceptor Group and served on active duty during Operation Desert Storm.
Dr. Kaiser holds the certification of Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) from the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.
