Matthew Mueller is an associate director at BRG with over twenty years of experience in the construction industry. Specializing in construction claims, delay analysis, construction defects, and standards of care, he has a track record of resolving complex project challenges and disputes. His expertise includes project management, construction scheduling, cost estimation, and quality management.

Mr. Mueller has worked on projects across government, residential, commercial, infrastructure, hospitality, and industrial sectors. He has conducted forensic investigations, provided delay analyses, and managed construction projects for high-profile clients, including the US National Park Service, defense contractors, and several Department of Transportation agencies. His work often involves identifying construction defects and evaluating adherence to construction management standards of care, ensuring that projects meet required quality and compliance standards.

Mr. Mueller has overseen and managed large-scale construction projects from inception to completion as a Class A general contractor. His hands-on experience complements his analytical skills, making him adept at identifying and mitigating potential issues before they escalate.

Mr. Mueller holds certifications as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP), and LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP BD+C). He has also served as an adjunct professor teaching courses on construction scheduling and advanced program management.

Mr. Mueller’s key project experience includes:

  • Performed a forensic investigation of two facility sites to determine responsibility for issues encountered in structures after construction was complete.
  • Provided a delay analysis to a shipyard client impacted by design errors and omissions that delayed progress.
  • Provided a cost and delay damages analysis to a manufacturing facility owner to assist with arbitration against the designer claiming no fault for damages in the construction of a new facility.
  • Provided a schedule delay analysis for a general contractor pursuing damages against a subcontractor on a roadway replacement project.
  • Provided a time impact analysis for a structural tilt-up concrete contractor to demonstrate productivity and delay impacts caused by the general contractor.
  • Provided schedule delay and time impact analysis for a general contractor reconstructing a major interborough bridge.
  • Provided a schedule delay analysis for a structural tilt-up concrete contractor to defend against delay allegations from the general contractor.
  • Provided a schedule delay analysis for a dispute between a general contractor and state department of transportation regarding delays to the construction of a new bridge.
  • Provided a delay and cost damage analysis for the renovation and restoration of a hotel. The project was delayed due to a permitting dispute, which caused additional damages due to cost escalation and procurement delays.
  • Provided a delay and damages analysis for a residential high-rise owner-developer delayed by the prime designer who designed a high rise that violated local law, resulting in work stoppage and additional costs.
  • Provided cost damage analysis for the late completion of a luxury condominium. The project experienced significant damages due to delays and contract violations.
  • Provided a cost and delay damages analysis for a developer involved in an inter-partnership dispute over a nonprofitable luxury condominium project.
