Konstantin Ebinger
Konstantin Ebinger is an economist with more than fifteen years of consulting experience in competition and antitrust matters in Europe and the United States. He is based in BRG’s Brussels office.
Mr. Ebinger has significant experience in merger proceedings and has advised on a number of transactions before the European Commission (HHI/DSME, Uniqa/AXA, DriveNow/car2go, Liberty Global/Ziggo, Holcim/Cemex West). He also has significant experience with notifications before national authorities such as the German Bundeskartellamt (Unitymedia/KabelBW), the Austrian Bundeswettbewerbsbehörde (Vivatis/AVE) and UK Competition and Markets Authority (ATOS/Countrywide, Whittan Intermediate/Apex Linvar). Further, he has advised on abuse of dominance cases before the European Commission and the German Bundeskartellamt (online marketplaces, online platforms, electronic consumer goods, internet of things, specialised medical devices).
Mr. Ebinger has advised on many large cartel cases and resulting follow-on litigations. His experience in cartels and collusive conduct, for both claimants and defendants, covers many sectors (e.g. automotive, financial products, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, industrial goods, infrastructure) and jurisdictions.
Before joining BRG, Mr. Ebinger opened and directed the Brussels office of a global economics consultancy. Before that, he was the head of the German competition office of a listed economic consultancy, which he established after moving from their London office. He started his consulting career in Berlin, during which time he also gained practical experience on US casework due to his secondment to an affiliated consultancy in Washington, DC. He experienced the inner workings of a regulator during his time working for the Chief Economist of the Competition Authority of the Netherlands (ACM, formerly NMa). He is fluent in German and English.
