Kenneth Mathieu is regularly retained to serve as an expert witness in the areas of accounting, damages, and valuation and has extensive experience serving as an advisor to entities facing a crisis, such as high-stakes litigation or government investigations.

He provides credible and objective analysis and information to assist in the mitigation and resolution of a situation. Courts, boards, management, insurance companies, arbitrators, and government regulators use his analysis to assist in making critical decisions.

Mr. Mathieu’s areas of experience include:

  • Merger and acquisition–related disputes and investigations: purchase price, earnouts, application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Damages quantification: lost profits, diminution in value, unjust enrichment
  • GAAP opinions
  • Business valuation
  • Theft of trade secrets
  • Alter ego and veil piercing: investigations, economic, accounting, and financial analysis
  • Bankruptcy: reasonably equivalent value analysis, avoidance actions, solvency analysis, Ponzi schemes, and fraud investigations
  • Forensic accounting

Mr. Mathieu is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Illinois CPA Society, where he has held leadership positions. He served as a commissioner on the National Accreditation Commission of the AICPA, which oversees all specialty credentials issued by the AICPA. He has published articles for peer-reviewed journals, coauthored chapters in books widely considered reference guides for forensic accounting and valuation professions, and served as editor for AICPA Practice Aids for forensic accounting professionals. He speaks on forensic accounting, valuation, and damages at industry conferences and educational forums.

Before joining BRG, Mr. Mathieu held senior-level positions at several international consulting and accounting firms.
