Karthik Bhavaraju is a director in BRG’s Corporate Finance practice. He brings more than twenty years of operating, investing, and advisory experience across a variety of industries.

Mr. Bhavaraju has led or played a key role in high-profile engagements involving restructuring, interim management, failed funds advisory, creditor advisory, and litigations in the context of bankruptcies, including with respect to fraudulent conveyance, structured products, and derivatives. He has a wide array of industry experience, including insurance, cryptocurrencies, failed funds, technology, utilities, industrials, healthcare, and retail. He possesses significant operating experience in the technology and automotive industries through his engineering experience at Dassault Systemes, a $60 billion enterprise software company.

Previously, as part of his work for the Fletcher funds, Mr. Bhavaraju acted as testifying expert on matters related to fraudulent conveyance and solvency. He also acted as the court-appointed receiver for a failed venture fund. Before that, he was a managing director in Teneo Capital’s financial advisory group. As leader of the broker-dealer practice responsible for all regulatory and compliance issues, he advised distressed European retailers and technology companies in their efforts to undertake accelerated mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital raises in the US; and oversaw a $200 million capital raise by a leading network-enabled fleet-management company.

In a prior role, Mr. Bhavaraju invested in the credit derivatives market and helped manage Primus Asset Management’s $23 billion credit derivatives exposure. He also previously oversaw PNC Bank’s (National City Bank) $10 billion mortgage risk exposure, invested into the derivatives market on behalf of wealth management clients, and analyzed leveraged loan investment opportunities for the bank.
