Carlo Papa has over thirty years of experience as international expert, venture partner and strategic advisor in energy, economics and finance with focus on innovation, climate and sustainability.

Carlo Papa is an international expert, venture partner and strategic advisor in energy, economics and finance with focus on innovation, climate and sustainability.

He serves as an Impact Advisory Board member in SACE, the Italian Export Credit Agency, supporting strategic planning, positioning and operation to integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) frameworks into project development, delivery and reporting.

Dr. Papa is a senior fellow at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI), a joint center of Columbia Law School and the Earth Institute at Columbia University, the only university-based applied research center and forum dedicated to the study, practice and discussion of sustainable international investment.

Dr. Papa is a regular lecturer at ISPI, IRENA and Strathmore University, among other institutions. He has contributed to scientific journals such as Applied Energy and Journal of Advanced Transportation and organizations such as Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. He coauthored the first G20 climate atlas, Hybrid Metrics: Connecting Shared Value to Shareholder Value, and the World Meteorological Organization’s 2022 State of Climate Services: Energy.

Dr. Papa initiated the Open African Power program, co-led by Sustainable Energy for All; participated in the Global Commission to End Energy Poverty; and cofounded the African School of Regulation.

Dr. Papa holds a PhD in management engineering, the TRIUM Global Executive MBA and a certificate in climate change and energy from Harvard University Kennedy School.

Dr. Papa is actively involved in thinktank activities as a fellow of the Aspen Institute and the German Marshall Fund of United States; and a member of the Chatham House, the UN Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition and the Italian Society for Climate Sciences.
