Bob Craig
For more than fifteen years Bob Craig has guided his clients in the identification, selection, and retention of consulting and testifying experts for complex litigation.
To this task he brings more than 50 years of legal experience, primarily as an in-house counsel.
Mr. Craig’s legal background also includes time spent on active military duty and in private practice, having served as an Air Force JAG officer and US Air Force Academy professor, a law firm partner, and for nearly thirty years in-house for four major corporations, primarily in the position of chief litigation officer.
Because Mr. Craig’s experience with complex litigation put him in the middle of some of the most important cases affecting his industries, he brings a special insight to the search by trial attorneys for the “right” experts for each case. Further, his role as a leader in the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association (ABA) and active member of the International Association of Defense counsel have exposed him to a broad range of issues facing the business world.
Mr. Craig has helped place experts in all types of disputes, including antitrust, employment, contract breaches, environmental, securities, intellectual property, Qui Tam, white collar, defamation and others. In each search, he brings strategic, tactical, and practical experience to his work and, because he has managed significant cases in all litigation forums, he understands the comparable and contrasting processes in state courts, federal courts, regulatory forums, and all types of arbitration, both international and domestic.
Personally, he has an extensive background in complex litigation matters, ranging from major securities cases and significant international arbitrations to industry-wide antitrust actions and critical intellectual property cases. In addition to assisting in the selection of experts, he also has been retained individually as a court-designated independent in derivative litigation and is available for arbitration and mediation appointments.
Professionally, Mr. Craig held significant positions in leadership in the Litigation Section of the ABA, serving as co-director of the substantive law committees, co-chair of the Military Lawyers Committee, and co-chair of the Committee on Corporate Counsel, where he is recognized as one of the chairs-emeritus and has concentrated his ABA work. He is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and an active member of the Texas Bar Association and in a retired status with the State Bar of Virginia. He is also active in other local and practice-specific bar associations.
