For more than twenty years, Ben Sheppard has served as an expert in valuation and forensic investigation in complex business disputes and intellectual property such as copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets.

He has testified over eighty times in federal and state court matters, as well as in domestic and international arbitrations. Mr. Sheppard has a broad base of practical and engagement experience in the media and entertainment industries, including motion pictures, home video, broadcast television/radio, live entertainment, sports, video games, cable/satellite/streaming television, character merchandising, and music publishing. He also has engagement experience with industries including financial institutions, business services, apparel, real estate, healthcare, oil and gas, and energy cogeneration.

Mr. Sheppard consults on engagements involving the valuation of business and intellectual property for purposes including taxation, mergers, and acquisitions. In addition, he has performed forensic investigations regarding potential fraud and contract noncompliance concerns. Mr. Sheppard has written several articles regarding the entertainment industry and other topics, as well as a chapter in the Litigation Services Handbook regarding best practices in performing royalty audits and contract compliance investigations. He has spoken to a number of legal organizations on similar topics.

Mr. Sheppard previously worked in the litigation support groups of a Big Four public accounting firm and international consultancy firms. He also worked for three motion picture studios in accounting and financial roles. He started his career as a financial statement auditor for a Big Four public accounting firm.
