2024 saw many legal tech providers mature their generative artificial intelligence (AI) offerings. What is in store for 2025?
The next twelve months will reveal how generative AI could impact the business of law and the legal job market, but complex regulatory issues will continue to challenge the development and utilization of AI offerings.
Amy Worley comments, “Presidential transition years are interesting from a regulatory development and enforcement standpoint given new agency leadership and executive priorities. AI regulation is in its infancy globally, and the prior Trump Administration didn’t encounter mainstream AI’s proliferation. We expect the incoming administration to focus on AI innovation and enablement.”
Ms. Worley explains that “[w]ithout federal laws, states are passing laws impacting AI, which we expect to continue. Global companies will also drive toward compliance with the EU AI Act. The sum of this patchwork will likely be uncertainty and variability in standards for companies as they focus on staying competitive in a tight market.”
