The Biden administration set the regulatory stage for the Trump administration to “step up export control enforcement,” according to a recent Inside U.S. Trade article.

In the article, Brent Carlson commented that the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security has been “priming” its corporate enforcement engine “for a long time,” and “the outgoing administration is leaving the incoming administration with the perfect tools and foundation for corporate enforcement.” Following the flurry of new export controls regulations, he said, “First comes the rulemaking, then comes enforcement.”
