BRG Energy and Climate Practice Adds James Toal in Houston

BRG announced today that James Toal has joined the firm’s Energy & Climate practice as a director in Houston.
Mr. Toal brings two decades of energy and financial disputes and advisory experience, having played a key role in managing large-scale engagements across international, federal, and state courts. His energy industry expertise includes performing energy valuations, lost profits analysis, solvency analysis, operational assessments, and risk management.
“James’s deep understanding of the energy sector will be invaluable as our disputes and advisory clients face increasingly complex challenges requiring sophisticated solutions,” said Chris Goncalves, a managing director and chair of BRG’s Energy & Climate practice. “His proven success in dispute resolution and valuation will strengthen our advisory services and enhance our ability to address the complex issues impacting our clients.”
Mr. Toal’s work will focus on advising clients involved in high-stakes disputes and transactions across the energy value chain, with a focus on valuation and damages analysis. He frequently provides expert reports and testimony across sectors including energy, intellectual property, and finance. He also works closely with clients to identify opportunities and address regulatory, financial, and strategic challenges they face in the energy sector.

Mr. Toal earned a BS from Trinity University with cum laude honors. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and an active member of the CFA Society of Houston.
