BRG has announced the appointment of Dorcas Kwan as an associate director in the Hong Kong office, where she will help drive the continued growth of the firm’s Antitrust & Competition practice in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Formerly with the Hong Kong Competition Commission and the Financial Secretary’s Office in Hong Kong, Ms. Kwan is a seasoned economist with nearly 15 years of experience in economic and competition analysis, business analytics and data science. She has worked as a consultant on high-profile cases related to competition, securities, mergers and acquisitions and general damages. During her career working in government and regulatory bodies, she conducted economic research and analysis to support public policy deliberation and competition law enforcement in Hong Kong. More recently, she was a director at a multinational company leading its data science function.
Ms. Kwan will work closely with BRG Managing Director Dennis Beling, also based in the Hong Kong office. “We’re delighted to welcome Dorcas to the expanding Competition practice in APAC”, said Mr. Beling. “Her background as a data scientist further strengthens our capabilities in handling large amounts of data and applying cutting-edge empirical tools. Her experience working with machine learning techniques that are at the heart of AI developments adds expertise in an area that has come under increasing scrutiny lately. Clients will also benefit from her deep knowledge of the local regulatory and policy regime”.
Mustafa Hadi, BRG’s regional lead in APAC region, added: “Dorcas’ arrival is well timed as we continue to build on the success BRG has achieved in APAC over the last few years. Her invaluable economic expertise and public-sector insight will help propel our services in the region to the next level”.
Ms. Kwan’s appointment is the latest in a series of experienced hires for BRG in APAC. Mr. Beling’s arrival in February was followed by Jay Gomez in Hong Kong, bolstering the firm’s cybersecurity offering. In March, BRG expanded its Cyber Forensics and eDiscovery practice further with Sohael Qayyum in Australia, while Prabhat Agrawal joined the firm’s Energy & Climate practice based out of Singapore.
