BRG announced the addition of Travis Olson, PE, as a director in its Construction practice. He will help develop and apply artificial intelligence (AI) tools to extract facts from construction disputes cases—saving clients time and money.
“There has been a significant rise in complex, document-intensive construction disputes since the pandemic, and clients are bracing for this to continue in 2025,” said Ben Nolan, PE, a managing director in BRG’s Construction practice. “Travis’s ability to leverage innovative AI agents in these disputes will be invaluable for clients looking to drive efficiencies and quickly resolve these increasingly high-stakes matters.”
Olson has over 17 years of experience in construction mediations and settlements and has worked on a range of projects including bridges, dams, water treatment facilities, light rail systems and commercial high-rise construction. Notably, he has been involved in successful mediations for a landmark dam raise project and a global settlement agreement of more than $370 million on a major rail electrification project.
“BRG has long been a leader when it comes to construction-related disputes—and the use of AI to address them,” said Olson. “I’m thrilled to collaborate with this team of talented practitioners as I take this exciting next step in my career.”
A former project manager and contractor, Olson has been involved in the oversight of structural, mechanical, electrical and steel scopes of work. He has also worked on project controls, cost reporting, labor productivity analysis, baseline scheduling and claims processes. His estimating expertise includes leading roles on joint venture design-build proposals exceeding $2.9 billion, including a stay-cable bridge in California and complex light-rail projects throughout Hawaii and California.
Olson earned his BS from Oregon State University and is a licensed Professional Engineer (CA, OR, WA) and Planning & Scheduling Professional.
