Emerging Labor Relations in High-Tech Industries

April 2024

David Lewin and Tingting Zhang (assistant professor, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) coauthored the “Emerging Labor Relations in High-Tech Industries” chapter in the Labor and Employment Relations Association’s (LERA) 2024 Research Volume.

While high-tech employees—including science, technology, engineering, and mathematics workers—are traditionally viewed as hard to organize, Dr. Lewin and Dr. Zhang argue that high-tech is a potential high-growth sector for union organization in the years ahead.

The chapter was originally published in H. Stanger, P.F. Clark, & J.T. Delaney (eds.), Union organizing and collective bargaining at a critical moment: opportunities for renewal or continued decline?, first edition, Champaign, IL: Labor and Employment Relations Association (2024).
