On March 29 at the 2023 ABA Antitrust Spring Meeting:

  • James Langenfeld, co-chair of the ABA Antitrust Section’s Economics Committee, chaired and moderated the session “Tuna Ahoy! Economic Analyses of Class Certification.” Discussion focused on the Ninth Circuit’s recent and controversial opinion certifying a class of tuna purchasers and how the expert’s economic and statistical analyses regarding the impact of the alleged price-fixing harmed class members.
  • Rosa Abrantes-Metz spoke on the panel “Do Not Pass Go—Steering and Monopolies.” Topics included the Digital Markets Act and the Digital Services Act in Europe, the amended Anti-Monopoly Act in China, and the proposed American Innovation and Choice Online Act in the US.
  • Hassan Faghani took part in the “Fundamentals – Economics” panel. Panelists provided an overview of economic principles and the value to lawyers of keeping pace with state-of-the-art economic thinking.
