One of our experts, while in government, supervised the investigation and prosecution of Liberty Reserve, which operated one of the most widely used digital currency services, and seven of its principals and employees for money laundering and operating an unlicensed money transmitting business. Liberty Reserve had more than one million users worldwide, who conducted fifty-five million transactions and laundered more than $6 billion in suspected criminal proceeds.
